    Tanya Emmerich

    February 21, 1964 - April 7, 2022

Tanya Emmerich was born on February 21st, 1964, and passed on April 7th, 2022. She was adopted by Dr. Paul K and LaVon Mooring at birth and spent her early years in Omaha, NE. The Mooring family moved to a farm in the Blair/Fort Calhoun area, and Tanya attended high school in Blair. After high school, she also attended the Art Institute of Florida, in Fort Lauderdale, where she studied architectural drawing, among other art studies. Tanya was a loving, caring, beautiful soul who had an incredible talent for all things artistic. She painted, created beautiful pottery, and immersed herself in several different crafts throughout her life. She had great patience for the tiniest of details when she was focused on these projects. Nature was her “religion”, and her knowledge of plants and especially animals was vast. She grew up with horses, cows, dogs, cats, rabbits, and even had a llama and a very social pet goose. Taking care of the cows was of major importance on the farm, so Dr. Mooring kept Tanya and her sister, Karen, very busy with those chores. Her pets were all loved and cared for better than most humans, so she received a lot of love back from all those creatures. She married Tim Emmerich in 1985 and they lived in Blair, NE until 2006, when they built a home, designed by Tanya, outside Fort Calhoun, NE. Their acreage was a place of comfort, peace and quiet, and inspiration for Tanya’s artistic talents. The fact that it also attracted a multitude of wildlife was a tremendous joy for her. Tanya is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Tim. Her mother LaVon lives in Bigfork, Montana and her sister Karen lives in Seattle, Washington. She is also survived by mother-in-law Shirley Emmerich and sister-in-law Jane Beasley, both of Blair, and nephew and niece Andrew Peterson and Sarah Peterson, both of Omaha. Tanya will be dearly missed by all of her family members and friends, and especially her husband. She was a kind, gentle, generous ray of light. Shine on, beautiful girl! Donations can be made to the Jeanette Hunt Blair Animal Shelter, the Nebraska Humane Society, or any other animal welfare resource of choice. A private family service will take place at her home in Fort Calhoun, with a Celebration of Life planned for a future date.
