Shirlene A. Hayes Obituary (2013)

A memorial service for Shirlene A. Hayes age 78 of Blair, Nebraska will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 27th, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00PM at Trinity Lutheran Church. Shirlene died Saturday November 23rd, 2013 at Crowell Home in Blair. Shirlene A. Hayes was born on February 24th, 1935 in Petersburg, Nebraska to Oliver and Clara (Watland) Score. She attended Walthill High School. On December 23rd, 1951 she was united in marriage to Corwin “Cork” Hayes while he was serving in the Marines. After Cork’s discharge the couple made their home in the Bertha area. In May of 1957 the couple moved to Blair. In 1961 they stared Hayes Electric in Blair. Shirlene enjoyed baking, and she and Cork also enjoyed playing cards regularly and were in a card club for over 40 years. She always had a positive attitude and sense of humor. She brought joy to anyone she came into contact with no matter the circumstance. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, The Blair Fire Auxiliary and volunteered for the Blair Hospital Auxiliary Rummage Sale. She is survived by husband Cork Hayes, daughter Valerie Hayes of Blair, Vickie Cameron and husband Douglas of Craig, Nebraska, son Cyler Hayes and wife Dawn of Kenosha, Wisconsin, grandchildren Rachel Cameron, Erin (Phill) Smith, Kiley (Seth) Schroeder, Natalie Hayes and Lucas Hayes, great grandson Desmond Montoya, nieces, nephews, cousins, in laws, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Rose Marie.
