Esther C. Hansen Obituary (2014)

Graveside services for Esther C. Hansen age 105 of Blair will be held Monday October 13, 2014 at 11:00AM at the Herman Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday October 12 at Campbell Aman Funeral Home for 6:00 to 8:00PM. Esther died October 10, 2014 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. Esther Hansen was born on December 19, 1908 on a farm southwest of Herman, Nebraska. She attended the one room, Brodersen School. She then attended Blair High School graduating in May of 1926. She attended Wayne State College and took classes at Dana College and the University of Nebraska. After teaching eleven years in Washington County Schools, she was married to Einar Hansen. To them a son, Don was born. After Don reached school age, Esther went back to teaching, later doing substitute work at the three elementary schools in Blair. She taught at Cumming City School from June 1955 to May 1970. She enjoyed reading her bible until her vision failed, and then loved listening to talking books. She is survived by her son Don (Debby) Hansen of Blair, Grandson Scott (Lara) of Westminster, Colorado (Jake, Hanna, Zoe, & Cooper), Granddaughter Kelli Schroeder of Blair (Jennie), her Sister-in-law Francis of Omaha and many nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her parents Fred and Marie Kubie, her husband Einar, her sister Florence, and her brother Howard.
