Ervin D. Mathiesen Obituary (2015)

Erv Mathiesen, age 75 of Blair, passed away at home surrounded by family on February 4th 2015. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM Monday February 9, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Burial will follow services in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday February 8, at Campbell Aman beginning at 3:00 PM with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with an Eagle’s Memorial Service at 7:00PM. Erv was born March 31, 1939 to Lloyd & Violet (Pullen) Mathiesen. He graduated from Blair High School in 1956. He married his high school sweetheart Marilyn Ruwe on March 12, 1957; to this union 1 son and 3 daughters were born. Marilyn passed away on June 19, 1981. On Jan 10, 1998 he married Pam Liekhus and gained 3 sons. Erv was a farmer, a brick layer, worked for John Deere in Blair and worked for Tyson farms until his retirement in 2001. He was on the Summers school board. He was an Eagle member in Blair and Elkhorn and Eagles Eastern Zone chairman. He was proceeded in death by wife Marilyn, parents, brother Lyle and Merle. Survived by wife Pam, children Ken Mathiesen, Gardner, KS; Deb (Marv) Purcell, Logan, IA; Pam (Brett) Barnhart, Kennard, NE; Kim Bland, Omaha, NE; Patrick (Jennifer) Liekhus, Overland Park, KS; Philip (Michelle) Liekhus, Omaha, NE; Preston (Alisha) Liekhus, Blair, NE; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
